Congestive Heart Failure

The effect of glutathione levels in heart cells affects the overall health of the heart, viability of the cells and inhibits and reduces cardiac inflammation and cell death.

Science:

1. "N-acetylcysteine (NAC)* restores myocardial total glutathione, reduces systemic and myocardial oxidative stress, improves MAPK signaling, and attenuates myocardial fibrosis in aortic stenosis rats."

2. "This study provides evidence that cardiac and systemic glutathione deficiency is related to the functional status and structural cardiac abnormalities of patients with cardiac diseases. These data also suggest that blood glutathione test may be an interesting new biomarker to detect asymptomatic patients with structural cardiac abnormalities."

3. "NAC* may inhibit oxidative stress, suppress NF-κB activation and regulate the expression of apoptosis-associated genes, such as Bax and Bcl-2, which may in turn reduce myocardial cell apoptosis and inflammation, and improve cardiac function in heart failure. Further studies are required to elucidate the mechanism underlying the effects of NAC, as well as its therapeutic value in the treatment of heart failure."

*NAC (N-acetylcysteine) is a form of supplementation which raises glutathione levels. However, RiboCeine is 300% more effective in raising glutathione levels than NAC.
